This Privacy Policy explains how Phantom Tavern ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Phantom Tavern Android application (the "App").

Phantom Tavern is designed as a local-first, offline-ready application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and limiting data processing to what is necessary for the App to function.

1. Information Collection and Use

Phantom Tavern does not collect, transmit, store, sell, or share your personal information, chat history, character cards, custom prompts, API keys, or application settings on servers operated by us.

The App does not include analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, tracking, telemetry, or automatic update-checking SDKs.

Local Data

All application data is stored locally on your Android device. Depending on how you use the App, this data may include:

  • Chat history and messages
  • Character cards and personas
  • Custom prompts and prompt presets
  • Application preferences and configuration settings
  • API keys and provider configurations

Phantom Tavern does not upload this locally stored data to servers operated by us, and we do not have access to it.

API Keys

Your API keys are stored locally on your Android device. They are used only to authenticate requests sent from your device to the AI provider or API endpoint that you configure.

Your API requests are not routed through servers operated by Phantom Tavern. We do not request, receive, or store your API keys on our servers.

You should treat API keys as sensitive credentials and avoid sharing them with others.

2. Third-Party and OpenAI-Compatible Services

Phantom Tavern allows you to connect to third-party AI services using OpenAI-compatible APIs. These services may include OpenRouter, OpenAI, or another compatible provider configured by you through a custom API endpoint.

When you send a message, the App sends the request directly from your device to the API endpoint you have configured. Depending on how the App and provider are configured, the transmitted information may include:

  • Your messages and prompts
  • Relevant conversation history
  • Character card or persona information
  • System prompts and prompt presets
  • Model names and generation parameters
  • Other content you choose to include in the request

Phantom Tavern does not receive, process, or store these requests on servers operated by us.

Third-party services process your requests according to their own terms of service and privacy policies. We do not control and are not responsible for how a third-party provider collects, uses, stores, retains, or protects information sent to its services.

Before configuring or using an API provider, you should review its privacy policy and terms of service. You are responsible for selecting a trustworthy provider and verifying the API endpoint you configure.

3. Children's Privacy

Phantom Tavern is intended only for individuals who are at least 18 years old.

We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If you are under 18, please do not use the App or submit personal information through any third-party service accessed using the App.

4. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect data stored and processed by the App. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet is completely secure.

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the security of your Android device
  • Protecting your API keys and provider accounts
  • Selecting trustworthy third-party providers
  • Reviewing the privacy and security settings of your device

If your device is lost, compromised, or accessed by another person, locally stored App data may also become accessible.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Because Phantom Tavern stores application data locally, you control the retention and deletion of your data.

You may delete data using the features available within the App. You may also remove locally stored App data through your Android device settings or by uninstalling the App.

Deleting local data from the App does not necessarily delete information that has already been transmitted to a third-party AI provider. Requests submitted to third-party providers are subject to their respective retention and deletion policies.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the App, applicable laws, or our data practices.

When changes are made, the updated Privacy Policy will be posted on this page, and the "Last Updated" date will be revised. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
